When it comes to addiction recovery, there are a plethora of resources available today. Like people, treatment centers come in all shapes and sizes, and they have many different focuses. However, at our 60-day Recovery Center for men just outside Austin, TX, our goal is to simplify the recovery process by offering three key retreats: 30-day, 60-day, and 90-days or longer. But while the lengths of the retreats differ, there’s one important thing that remains the same in all three: You are undoubtedly, unequivocally the focus. Instead of focusing on why drugs and alcohol are the problem, we focus on why they were a solution. We give men the opportunity to recreate their lives by taking action in the 12-step recovery process which has been proven to work for over 70 years. Here at Any Length Retreat our goal is to help build a strong foundation for our guests to recover from alcoholism and drug addiction.

The ‘Root and Branch’ Program

The two-month or 60-day treatment program for men in Austin, Texas is surely one of the most common and widespread. Part of the reason why it’s so popular is that it’s very smartly designed. Research has shown us that developing a habit takes at least three weeks, so our 60-day recovery program –Root and Branch Retreat– will allow individuals suffering from alcoholism and drug addiction to get acclimated to their newfound sobriety. In fact, the Root and Branch Retreat is so-named because it’s designed to help our guests achieve the basics of recovery and begin the process of turning those recovery basics into the foundation of their new lives; in other words, their recoveries are “taking root.” In addition to the Root and Branch Retreat is a sufficient length of stay for individuals to begin “branching” out to other areas of recovery. As you’re surely aware, addiction recovery is a very multi-faceted journey and people suffering from alcoholism and/or drug addiction have a full range of addiction needs; this means that the Retreat needs to be flexible so they can address such a spectrum of experiences. Many people believe that when it comes to addiction, it’s the alcohol or drugs that are the problem. It’s understandable why this would be such a common misconception; however, the real root of addiction is the actual addict/alcoholic, because it’s when a person begins to see alcohol or drugs as a solution that addiction becomes inevitable. That’s why our Root and Branch Retreat focuses on why addicts do the things they do while sober or active in their addiction. Our aim is to help every addict/alcoholic learn about addiction in greater detail. This includes the common causes and contributors, what psychological and physiological changes occur, and how addicts/alcoholics could continue to abuse alcohol or drugs in spite of the consequences they have experienced or are currently facing.

Emphasis on The Twelve Steps

There’s probably not a single person who’s not, at least in some small way, familiar with the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. The twelve-step method has been used by hundreds of millions of people for close to a century. In fact, this is why the Twelve Steps are often used as the bedrock of most treatment centers. What’s so unique about the Twelve Steps is that, rather than being a recovery tool that addresses only one dimension of addiction, working the Twelve Steps will help a person to achieve, physical, emotional, spiritual, and social recovery. It’s a balanced approach that many other methods have unsuccessfully tried to duplicate. At Any Length Retreat, we recognize the usefulness and importance of the Twelve Steps by incorporating the twelve-step method into every single service we offer.

Whether you’re religious, spiritual, or neither, there’s inherent value in working the Twelve Steps. While completing the 30-day, 60-day, or 90-day retreats at our facility, a little northeast of Austin, TX, you will be exposed and encouraged to engage in the principles of the 12 steps. Some important takeaways from the Twelve Steps includes being able to assess one’s character defects, developing the strength of character to overcome those defects, understanding the value of one’s relationships, learning how and why to make right the wrongs committed against others, and learning about the importance of fellowship and community.
